Wednesday's Champions League Final watched Live at the Memon Centre!

The football match gathering on Wednesday at 730pm at the Memon Centre was organised by Imtiaz Gaffar and Ashraf Okhai. The event was a great success and approx 80 people turned up which included a number of kids.

Food was excellent and everyone enjoyed the evening thoroughly.

Our special thanks to Irfan Karim (Iffy) for sorting out the screen. Also many thanks to Asif Apex, Shabbir Rangers, Shiraz Nathani, Rafik Alif and all the others for their help in assisting with the occassion.

Also thanks to Koyla Restaurant and Best Buy Cash & Carry for offering discounted food and drinks. We wish to organise these evnts on a regular basis and request your support. Please leave your comment if you have any suggestions and ensure you submit your email details to the website to be informed of similar forthcoming events.

Great stuff guys. I was supposed to attend this event with my 2 young boys who are keen on football (even though I am not!), however some guests turned up at the door at the last minute. My boys were quite disappointed that we missed this. Please keep organising more such events and let us know in good time via this website.

Also a big hand to all the volunteers who assisted committee member Imtiaz Gaffar to organise this event - it just proves that if we want results we all need to lend a hand to the new committee, as without community support the committee can not be expected to take things forward on their own.

Thanks

I agree with the previous comment, we all need to get involved, the venue & facilities are there. It's now upto individual & small groups of people to come forward to organise all the different activities that are possible in a community centre, as suggested by various commentators on this blog - WE ARE ONLY LIMITED BY OUR IMAGINATIONS!

On a related note, my suggestion would be that the new committee should not only quickly co-opt the 2 positions that are available, BUT also start the task of creating various sub-committees and involve all ready, willing and people including (but not limited to) the following:

- Members of past committees who have the benefit of experience in this context.
- All that got nominated in the recent election but didn't get the votes to get elected (the fact that they agreed to be nominated is proof enough that they were ready, willing and able to take part!)
- The many people who have so far commented with various suggestions on this site (again the fact that they have taken the trouble to make suggestions should be proof that they are also willing to take part in assisting the new committee).
- And any others who are willing to assist the new committee make a success of the community centre.

So come on guys, let's get ready to suggest some sub-committees and put our names forward to be part of said sub-committees.
