Members Poll: Vote for what you want the new Committee to do in the next 2 months!

We have just a added a small poll on the right hand side of the website. Please take part in it, thanks.

Since the election of the new commitee on Sunday, we have started having various comments on the website about what needs to be done at the Memon Centre. Thanks to all who have submitted their suggestions so far.

Just to be specific, we have shortlisted a choice of 5 random things that the new committee could do in the next 2 months. Please vote for one of them so we can get a feel for what the majority of people want the new committee to do.

We will post the results on the site after a week when the poll end, and hopefully the committee will kick-start with the most voted-for suggestions.

Of course if you have any other alternative suggestions for the next 2 months, please leave a comment.

Thanks
Shuaib
Website Committee

PS: We are also experimenting with the colours on the site, please let us know what you think, thanks.

I would have thought putting repairing the current tables and machines would be first priority or at least including in the poll.

How about a weekly lunch club for the elderly? The venue & the facilities are there so why not have this for our elderly parents / grandparents?

Salaams all readers and committee members in particular, I have a proposal for the short and long term agenda of the club, I would suggest the committee employ a manager who can generate income at the club and make full use of the facilities, someone who is able to start up homework clubs, computer classes, ladies clubs, Health awareness gatherings for people in high risk communities, drugs awareness, keep fit classes, Elderly drop in clubs etc etc, let out facilities to other organizations at better then market value rates (based on the condition of the site). We need to create more public awareness of the site and facilities we can offer to all communities, our price's should be very competitive to reflect the service we can provide and the facility we can offer. It is more important to have attractive packages to create public awareness at the first stage and then work on improvements on the site with income that can be generated.
Paying a decent wage to somebody and incentivising such a person can be a good way of going forward at this stage. To recruit such a person a small sub commitee should be formed and a recruitment drive initiated to find a suitable candidate, once that candidtae is found then a short term upgrade programme should be put in place with strategies on how to acehive certain short and long term goals.
I hope my suggestion are looked at positively, they r meant to help and not criticize, the work done up till today should be commended by past and existing committee members.

Please also consider something for the ladies, especially full-time mums who find it difficult to come out of the house. If you provided free or reasonably priced creche facilities, then the ladies can take part at the centre and even participate in community / voluntary activities like ladies bazaars / ladies evenings / ladies trips etc.

I believe the ladies have their own committee and at the moment they have more going on than the mens.
